A Tribute to Gabriel Garcia Marquez at Havana Film Festival New York
Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s passion for cinema goes beyond the adaptations of his novels and short tales, and a good way to remember him is to explore his universe on screen. During the 2015 Havana Film Festival New York a panel was presented in order to give Gabo a well deserved tribute in the wake of his first death anniversary. The audience at NYU's King Juan Carlos of Spain Center enjoyed a discussion after the screening of The Blue Lobster (1954), a experimental short film in which Garcia Marquez played as script advisor. The panel was moderated by Alan McLane, Mexican film curator and programmer and the guests were Colombian photographer Nereo Lopez who worked as Director of Photography and Actor in The Blue Lobster and Luciano Castillo, Cuban Film Critic, Promoter and Historian.
